Sharpen your IT Skills and become a young IT Professional over the holidays.

LEVEL 1

This set of topics is best suited for students in the range 7 to 11 years old, or those who have a low level of IT knowledge.

What we show them:

  1. POWERPOINT: How to use a computer to create fantastic presentations with text, graphics, charts and animations. They will do several projects and will publish their work in multimedia format.
  2. EXCEL: How to use a spreadsheet to make calculations, save, edit and reorganise data, use formula and formatting of cells, create different models of charts and solve simple mathematical or business/accounting problems.
  3. INTERNET AND SECURITY: The internet is a fantastic tool for research and entertainment. Students will be shown how to use internet productively, how to extract and save data, how to send and receive email and attachments. They will also be taught about the potential dangers of using the internet and simple steps and checks that they should take in order to stay safe. they will learn how to install and use antivirus software and learn how to protect their identity online.
  4. WORDPROCESSING(This will be done in place of POWERPOINT) for students who have poor keyboarding techniques. We will show them how to use the keyboard so as to have proper typing skills, plus they will be shown to edit and format documents and will do so by creating real-life projects in Word.

LEVEL 2

This level is reserved for candidates already familiar with computers and wishing to enhance existing or learn a new set of skills. There are several TRACKS and candidates will have to choose 1 track. Some candidates can also register for more than 1 track and study them in parallel.

1. TRACK 1 – PROGRAMMING SKILLS: Here candidates will be introduced to problem solving with computers, learn how to write pseudo-code and draw flow-charts. They will then learn how to solve problems in a selected programming language (PYTHON or VB.NET) and understand data types, declarations, IF statements and loops/iterations. How to use data structures such as arrays and perform sorting and searching operations. They will also learn how to split big programs into subprograms or functions. They will also learn how to debug and test programs. (The syllabus is based on Cambridge SC and/or HSC levels and the exercises are taken from past exams papers). This course can also be taken by students of Grades 10 or 12 who have difficulties to understand programming at school.

2. TRACK 2 – GRAPHICS DESIGN SKILLS: Students will learn how to edit images in Adobe Photoshop with basic as well as advanced techniques using filters, layers, brushes and clone tools. They will also learn to create logos, brochures, posters in Adobe Illustrator.

3. TRACK 3 – AUTOCAD: Students will learn about the basics of drawing in AutoCAD with absolute, relative, polar and dynamic coordinates. They will create objects and layouts and learn how to dimension and scale drawings. They will draw floorplans and output them on paper or in PDF format.

4. TRACK 4 – WEB DESIGN: After learning the basics of web technology, HTML and CSS, students will be taught how to create pages in WordPress CMS, how to add plug-ins, how to create menus, categories and posts. Students will learn how to secure and improve the performance of a website and will publish their work.

Course Organisation

There will be 3 weeks of courses in NOVEMBER 2022 and 3 weeks in DECEMBER 2022 as shown in the calendar below.

The DAYS will be MON, TUE, WED, THURS.

There will be 3 batches on each of these 4 days (10.00 – 12.00, 13.00-15.00 and 15.30-17.30).

Students can select ONE of the following modes of completion:

(i) Take 2 sessions of 2 hrs each per week, over 6 weeks

(ii) Take 4 sessions of 2 hrs each per week and finish over 3 weeks.

(iii) Take 3 sessions of 2 hrs each per day and finish in 1 week.
